Record year for tourism and 2019 will be even better.
Planning Manager Elías Bendodo for tourism on the Costa del Sol announces a record year for tourism with 1% more in revenue and 4% increased employment.
Year 2018 landed at 12.5 million visitors and with revenue of EUR 14.2 billion. Employment has benefited from these good figures with about 173,800 jobs.
With these figures in the back, Elías Bendodo does not hesitate to say that tourism has been a record year for the Málaga province. The decrease of 1% of international tourism has been compensated by a 4% increase in national tourism.
In addition, the perspective for 2019 is very good. "For the first four months, 8.6% are already booked more flight seats," says Bendodo.
He also presents a campaign for the winter low season aimed at levelling off seasonal variations . It will reach 45 large cities in 13 countries and is expected to reach 55 million people. Social media will be used to adapt the campaign to potential customers.
